Tongan Interim Ferry – Tongan Government
In February 2010 TML were commissioned by a joint venture funding project by NZ & Aust Aid to mobilise and delivery the MV Ajang Subuh a 42mtr Crew Vessel from Malaysia to Tonga to be used as a interim ferry service between the outer Island in the Tongan group after the loss of the Princess Ashika in August 2009.
Once the delivery voyage was completed TML started a regular ferry service through the Tongan group. Although officers on the ship were mostly Kiwi we used many other local seafarers and carried out regular safety drills and training. Tenders were then called for by the Tongan government for a longer term vessel and crew management contract.
TML was the successful tender and continued the service until Feb 2011.
TML then delivered the vessel back to the Malaysian owners and assisted with the off hire survey for the vessel.
